Camp Sheppard's Tri-Trek Program
July 2010

This adventure is designed for scouts in Troop 55 and Crew 55 who are 13 to 15 years old, and who have previously been to at least two summer camps with Troop 55.  Scouts over the age of 15 can also participate in this program if they do not have the physical fitness for the Mt. Rainier trek or for other reasons.

(For the Mt. Rainier program for older scouts, click HERE.)

Dates: Depart Houston on Saturday, July 24, 2010.
Return on Sunday, August 1, 2010.
Location: We fly into Seattle, Washington.
Camp Sheppard High Adventure Base is about 60 miles south of Seattle.
The camp is in a national forest on the north side of Mt. Rainier.
The Plan: Upon arrival in Seattle, we travel by bus to Camp Sheppard High Adventure Base at 1,800 ft elevation.  For most nights, the group will sleep in cabins at Camp Sheppard.  Most breakfasts and dinners will be in the the Camp Sheppard dining hall.  Lunches will usually be at the site of that day's activity.  We will have two days in Seattle for sightseeing prior to departure for home.
Itinerary: The participants will pick the activities for their itinerary.  Among the possible activities are team building games, mountain biking, rock climbing, repelling, and introduction to mountaineering skills.  The group could also do an overnight backpacking trek, possibly including camping on snow/ice.
The Camp Sheppard website has a typical itinerary.  For that link, click HERE.

For the limited number of slots for adults, the selection will be based on training, physical fitness, prior experience, and the adult's contribution to the Scouting program throughout the year.

The fee is dependant on actual cost of the airline tickets, possible accommodations in Seattle last two nights, and activities chosen for the days in Seattle.  Of this amount, the fee for Camp Sheppard is $550.
